Carolinasmom
My parents have Lindy who is Carolina's litter mate. When we watched her for a week in April while my parents were on a cruise, she was on meds for a bulging disk in her back, (dogs are 7 years old). With meds and restriction on jumping on and off furniture, it was hoped that the disk would heal on its own. A few weeks ago Lindy started having potty accidents in the house and her stools were orange. The vet said the orange was due to a liver problem which was a side effect of the meds. A blood test revealed she is anemic and an ultrasound showed an enlarged liver. She has no energy...this from a dog who had endless energy, WAY more than Carolina ever has! My parents have taken Lindy to a specialist and last night she had a blood transfusion. A bone marrow test was mentioned but my mom is not sure she wants them to put Lindy through all that, putting her out and drilling into her leg. We are very worried! Prayers/postive thoughts would be much appreciated! I will keep you updated. These 2 dogs are very close. My mom does doggy daycare when I work so they see each other regularly. Carolinasmom
Thanks kayharley and toomanypaws! Lindy is home and doing better. They have her on prednisone, (sp?) and some anti-rejection drug so she doesn't reject the blood from the transfusion. She did not end up having the bone marrow test which was to check for an auto-immune disease b/c the test has only a 30% chance of telling if the dog has it. Mom says Lindy has more energy but is tired. She figures Lindy didn't get much sleep last night since they had to check her temp. regularly to make sure she wasn't rejecting the blood. She goes back in a few days to get checked again.

savannahsmom35
So sorry to hear about Lindy. Savannah sends her love and prays for a quick recovery! We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M.
