rileysmum
I really all the cairns , but if I did have a choice I would steer towards the darker colours. So did you have any idea what colour your pup would grow into ? if yes how? What colour was your puppy ?what colour is it now? Any chance of a photo I can't get enough!!! Thanks
savannahsmom35
Savannah was brown as a pup: Then Wheaten: And now I think she is trying to turn silvery gray! (No pic of that yet. I will try to get one.) Soooo.... I guess to answer your question, it seems that these pups LOVE to change colors so I guess you never really know what you are getting!!! We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. Anna_525
Alfie is a cream brindle (I keep on changing my mind between that and wheaten) but he's turning into a red brindle - I can tell from his stripe down his back.

Brody'sMom
I love all the Cairn colors. Brody and Mia are cream/wheaten brindles. When we got Mia, she was the color she is today. Brody was definitely much darker when we first got him (he was registered as a red brindle), but he turns more silver every day. Mia's coloring hasn't changed that much. I've always been partial to the light colors, but I think the dark colors are also beautiful.
Eliz222
Scout was all black as a tiny puppy...changed to a grey brindle....and now has a bunch of red hair coming in. She is 3 years old. Finch was a red brindle as a tiny puppy, and is still mostly red, although she is getting alot of wheaten color on her back and head. She is one. I like that they change colors! Everyone gets Scout and Finch mixed up, although they look so different to me...not only the color, but Scout is taller and about 2 pounds heavier. Kramersmom
My first Cairn Missy she was black brindle when we bought her. Missy stayed black all of her 17 years of life. Missy passed away this past November. Our new Cairn Kramer he has a few colors and looks just beautiful. I have never seen a cairn not look beautiful. Guest girliejr
Jack was wheaten as a puppy, but he had a lot of black puppy hair. Most of that fell out and he has goten lighter and lighter with age. He is 3 1/2 now and mostly wheaten without the black he had as a baby. It's been three years since I lost my beloved choc. lab and the pain is still there. His memory will forever live on inside of me and so will Zoe's memory live inside of you. As far as my cairn's colors. Kiara was black w/ some red in her as a pup. Within the first year, she lightened up on the sides w/ alot of light red, but always kept a black face. Now at 4, she's getting darker again w/ both black and red coming in on her back. Abbey, my wheaten got alot lighter but still has some black in her muzzle. Now at almost 21 mths, she has alot more red wheaten coloring coming in on her back. Hannah was black as a pup and started getting some cream/silver highlights. Now at 15 mths, she has alot of cream on her sides but has kept a black face. I'm hoping she darkens again. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
